Celebrating 15 Years of Tying Vines: Bound by Purpose
Fifteen years ago, Tying Vines began with a simple but powerful belief: local leaders are often the people best position
When disaster struck, the first people to respond were often those who were already there.
Following a devastating earthquake in Venezuela, families and communities faced damaged homes, disrupted lives, and an urgent need for basic supplies. Through our network of trusted partners, Tying Vines helped connect resources with local churches and volunteers who were positioned to get help directly into affected communities.
At Tying Vines, we believe local leaders know their communities best. They understand the language, the culture, the neighborhoods, and—most importantly—the people.
Churches in Venezuela served as distribution points where supplies could reach families who needed them most. This local network allowed relief efforts to be rooted in trusted relationships and continue beyond the immediate aftermath of the disaster.
Here in Houston, volunteers stepped up to organize, pack, and prepare critical supplies for shipment to Venezuela.
Supplies included medical supplies, shelter and camping supplies, cleaning materials, and tools for debris removal.Through a discounted shipping partnership, these resources were transported to Venezuela and placed into the hands of local partners who distributed them to communities in need.
It was a beautiful example of what we mean when we say:
Connect Globally. Impact Locally.
Financial gifts helped cover the costs of getting urgently needed resources where they needed to go. Every gift—large or small—helped equip people already on the ground to care for their neighbors and communities.
For Tying Vines, crisis response has always been about more than providing supplies. It’s about showing up with practical help, standing alongside local leaders, and sharing the hope and love of Jesus during some of life’s most difficult moments.
Thank you to everyone who prayed, gave, donated supplies, volunteered, and helped bring relief and hope to families in Venezuela.
