Introducing Adam Settle

Adam only recently became associated with Tying Vines in order to raise funds for the various ways he hopes to serve and minister around the world. His desire is to become a motivational speaker to encourage others who face hard challenges and help them see they can pursue their dreams. Adam is uniquely qualified to do this as he was born with a rare metabolic disorder called cobalamin-C dysfunction. This condition affects the nervous system, brain function, vision, and other areas. When Adam was born most babies born with this condition didn’t live past puberty. Adam turned 19 last year. He once said, “I love to encourage people. People see me for who I am, and they can see I live a life without boundaries. I never let my condition define who I am.”

In High School a close friend of Adam’s wrote about him. Ben described what their friendship meant to him. “To doctors, Adam’s ability to understand and process is limited, to me Adam’s perspective is what I aim to attain…I taught Adam how to do a lay-up (hard for Adam as he can only see the periphery around him, and not directly in front.) He taught me how to live my life.”

Introducing Adam Settle

In addition to a love for encouraging people, Adam loves to travel. He has been to Cambodia, Canada, Italy, Oman, England and the United Arab Emirates. Last year he took his first ministry trip. Adam flew to Kenya to minister in the CURE hospital there. He spent time with the CURE staff offering spiritual encouragement and working on some maintenance projects at the hospital. He also ministered to the patients by praying with them and spending time with them. Adam shared his testimony several times including at a local church service. “When I speak to people, I want them to think about their future after this life that we live here on earth.”

In the coming months Adam is planning a return visit to Kenya. He has several speaking engagements already lined up where he will be encouraging people who face obstacles, and reminding them of God’s love. A book is also being written about his journey. We will let you know more as we are updated. In an interview Adam once said, I want “to be able to love others just like He loves all of us.”

Read the CURE post about Adam’s trip.

“Life isn’t always easy, but I try to make the most out of each and every day I am given.”

Thank you for that reminder, Adam.
