Rolling mountains. Vibrant cities. Tables filled with food and laughter.
Today, much of that has changed.
As of April 2026, more than 1.2 million people have been displaced across Lebanon, nearly one-fifth of the country’s population. Entire communities have been uprooted almost overnight as the ongoing conflict and war unfolding across the Middle East. Families have fled their homes in southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and parts of Beirut in search of safety, while infrastructure, healthcare systems, schools, and local economies continue to face immense strain from the ongoing violence and displacement.Â
Among them are nearly 390,000 children.
Some are sheltering in overcrowded schools. Others are scattered among host families or temporary housing, navigating uncertainty day by day. Many left with nothing. Most don’t know when, or if, they will return home.
For many of us at Tying Vines, Lebanon is not just a place on a map.
We remember walking through the Bekaa Valley.
Sharing meals. Hearing stories. Experiencing the warmth and resilience of the people.
That’s why this moment feels personal.
Recently, our friends the Sawayas, who serve faithfully through City Bible Church, reached out. Anwar Sawaya’s hometown, nestled in the mountains outside Beirut, has become something unexpected.
A refuge.
What was once a quiet, beautiful town is now sheltering more than 500 displaced people. Families have arrived with whatever they could carry. Some have lost everything. Others are too afraid to return home, even with a ceasefire in place.
As Anwar shared,
“Our town is known for its beauty, now it is known as a place of refuge.”
In the middle of overwhelming need, we are focusing on what we can do right now.
Through our trusted partners on the ground, Tying Vines is stepping in to support 20 families in this community.
These are not abstract needs. They are immediate and deeply human:
Food for the table
Clothing for children
Fuel to stay warm
Medications
Basic household essentials
We are working to raise $15,000, which will provide $250 per month for three months to each family.
