Invigorate is one of the newest partners to join Tying Vines. Josh Smith, its founder, has volunteered directly with Tying Vines since 2012 but is now focusing full-time on building Invigorate. Josh’s heart to help the disabled began as a young man growing up in Kenya. His family helped a young man with clubbed feet to receive the surgery he needed to be able to walk. Josh shared that he never forgot the joy on Kumbo’s face when he returned to his community after the surgery. Invigorate was started to help solve the need for wheelchairs and other assistive technologies in countries that do not have national health programs that cover these types of special health care needs.

Invigorate works in conjunction with The Catalyst Team, of which Josh is a member. This group, working with Mission Hospitals worldwide, is made of many Christian volunteers from various medical and educational professions who strive to provide “optimal whole-person care for those with disabilities with a special focus on wheelchair users.” Invigorate will focus on generating revenue for this vision. “The goal is for wheelchairs to be made locally to reduce cost, establish consistent availability, increase serviceability…and meet the demand effectively.”

In June, Josh returned from a summer camp in Guatemala where wheelchairs were provided to children and they were trained in how to use them. The children who previously dragged themselves on the floor to get around joyfully received the wheelchairs. “Now they are appropriately seated, making friends and playing games.”

Please pray for Josh and the work that Invigorate is doing, the people they will be helping, and for the funds to come in and empower the disabled with mobility.
