Caring for the Forgotten: How Churches in Zambia Are Changing Lives
The School of Peace provides Gaza refugee children with education, daily meals and a safe space to heal, helping restore
This month Tying Vines is highlighting a new project in Venezuela. In 2019, faced with the increasing poverty and the growing crisis of malnutrition across Venezuela, Alexandra made a plan. She saw children who needed to be fed and so began her work “to start and establish dining halls for children living in extreme poverty.”
From the beginning, Fundaura, named for Alexandra’s daughter and in memory of her mother who inspired her, began receiving donations. The training of volunteers took place and operations were standardized. The volunteers cook Monday through Friday and share God’s love with the children. They provide spiritual support to help them overcome all they are facing. Soon, included in the donations were medical supplies. These supplies are distributed to hospitals in the area. Fundaura accomplishes this despite the significant logistical and political challenges facing an organization operating in a country facing much uncertainty.
Since 2020, many foundations and sponsors have joined the mission. More than 5000 people, families and children, have benefitted so far from Fundaura and all those who help and support the mission. Alexandra says “with everyone contributing their grain of sand, we have been able to help these families.”
Alexandra, her husband Wilmer, and their two children continue the immense task of fighting malnutrition and food insecurity in Venezuela. Their mission and that of their supporters is to “bring hope and change to the lives of those in need. It is driven by faith and compassion.“
If you would like to become a part of this team please donate today and pray for Fundaura and all those who are helping. And, of course, the children.
