We are grateful for the generous donations of so many of you who helped provide warm clothing for refugee children in Western Asia and the Middle East this winter. Over a thousand children received much needed winter hats, coats, gloves and other warm clothing. Sometimes it is hard to visualize what this means for these children who have so little. In order to put a face to the difference you’ve made, here is one little boy’s story. His name has been changed.
9 year old Daniel lives in a tent in a camp that is for the Kobani Kurdishi people displaced by the 2023 earthquake in Turkey and Syria. There are 100 families in the camp. By working for the landlord, they are allowed to keep their tents there, receive 3 meals a day, and two pieces of summer clothing annually. Daniel writes,
One day our friend Haji who brings us gifts like candies, came to see us. I was so surprised. Uncle Haji brought for me warm and thick pajamas. I tried them on and they fit my body exactly. I cried so much not because of anything, but because I felt guilty thinking God may not hear my prayers. He is hearing and listening, but in His time.
Now always when I want to feel warm I am just wearing my clothes and do not need always to smell that burning plastic.”
Daniel’s story could be repeated a thousand times.
