Anwar Sawaya

Anwar was born in a small town in the mountains of Lebanon to a Roman Catholic family. As a result of the civil war in Lebanon, Anwar moved to the US in the early 1980’s where he eventually committed his life to the lord and met and married his wife Julene. Anwar was officially ordained as a minister of the gospel in 1994. In 1996, Anwar & Julene had a strong leading from the Lord to move to the U.A.E., where Anwar’s parents were residing. Upon arrival to the UAE in 1997, Anwar & Julene immediately started attending and serving at ECC.

For 25 years, Anwar and Julene have served at ECC. Anwar was a bible study leader, member of the church board, director of Men’s Ministry and Elder. Julene served in children’s ministry and women’s bible study.

In 2022, they again felt the Lord’s leading to return to Lebanon, the land of Anwar’s birth, where Anwar will serve as a full-time Missionary Pastor at City Bible Church in Beirut.
