25 Years of Love, Faith, and Fellowship: Nuno and Gila's Journey
Nuno and Gila Moleira, both from northern Portugal, met in their 20s, fell in love, and got married. This November, they will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary—a remarkable milestone that reflects not only their love for each other but also their shared faith journey. They have two children: Leonor, 18, who is currently studying in South Korea, and Diogo, 13, who is still at home in Portugal.

While both Nuno and Gila came to faith at a young age, it was during their time living and working in Oman that they experienced significant spiritual growth. This period marked a turning point in their lives, as they felt an increasing burden for family and friends back in Portugal who had not yet come to know the Lord. The couple sensed a deep calling to return to their homeland and share the love of God in a more intentional way.
Since 2018, Nuno and Gila have opened their home in Viana do Castelo for times of worship, prayer, Bible reading, and fellowship. Their vision is simple yet powerful: to cultivate a close-knit community that genuinely loves God and people, living out their faith in everyday life. With a deep reliance on the Holy Spirit, they are focused on making disciples of Jesus Christ and teaching them to follow His commands, all for the glory of God.

In 2017, they made the move back to Viana do Castelo with the intention of starting a church. For a full year, they dedicated themselves to prayer, waiting on the Lord’s direction. In 2018, they held their first worship service in the basement of their home. That small gathering has since blossomed into a growing church community—so much so that their basement is now bursting at the seams!
As their congregation continues to grow, Nuno and Gila are praying for a larger space to accommodate everyone. They also have a broader vision of seeing multiple house churches established throughout the city, creating a network of faith-filled homes where people can experience the love of God and grow in their walk with Christ.

Nuno and Gila’s journey of faith, family, and fellowship has brought tangible change to their community in Viana do Castelo. Their vision for expanding their church and creating more house churches throughout the city is growing stronger each day.
